EIA 3.0 tracks usage as well as inventory data, giving you the ability to analyze usage patterns and better plan for future purchases and upgrades. It answers the question: Which applications are underutilized or not used at all? EIA helps companies save money by eliminating over and under licensing, ownership fragmentation, and non-compliant use of software.

How it works:

• A central administrator specifies which applications in the corporate portfolio should be tracked.
  
  
• Usage tracking agents monitor usage for these applications throughout the enterprise.
  
  
• EIA gathers usage data and provides a variety of reports.
  
  
• Usage is reported by node and application.
  
  
• EIA also reports nodes where the software is installed in the enterprise, but is not used.

Currently available as part of EIA 3.0, usage tracking will be available in the near future as a stand-alone product as well.
