When the Search Committee made its final decision, this is exactly what I wrote to the Board of Trustees in my report:

the two smartest and best decisions we made were (a) to engage a professional search consultant to handle the search (in hindsight, to have done otherwise would have been a big mistake), and (b) to have chosen CSC and Jim Goslin as that search consultant. Jim is a true professional. His knowledge in the field is comprehensive, his personal contacts extensive, and he is great to work with.

He helped us with the process itself, keeping it organized, moving it along, but always leaving the decisions to us.
