Programs: WSMA Mini-Grants Applications are due February 7, 2003 Purpose The WSMA Mini-Grant Program allocates funds to help stimulate creativity, innovation, experimentation, or change in school music programs. It encourages school districts to explore and initiate new ideas and approaches to music education. It also helps provide students with additional opportunities and experiences in music. Eligibility Any music educator, music supervisor, principal, superintendent employed by a Wisconsin public or private elementary or secondary school, or WSMA-member school from a neighboring state can apply for Mini-Grant funds. Amount WSMA Mini-Grant awards are up to $500.00. Matching funds are not required; however, it is recommended other sources of funds be used to supplement the WSMA funds. Supplemental Funds WSMA Mini-Grant funds can be used for the purchase of supplies, equipment, consultant services, as well as clinician, artist, or rental fees. Salaries or fees for existing staff are not eligible for funding. In addition, equipment funds are limited to not more than 50% of the amount requested. Project Ideas Any project fulfilling one or more of the purposes listed above is welcome. However, particular priorities include: - Innovative projects or efforts to reach diverse or unique student populations, and
- Improvements of the Solo & Ensemble Festival experience in the school and community.
Mini-Grant Timeline - Write to WSMA to request a Mini-Grant Application Form after Nov. 2, 2002, or print one from this website.
- Applications must be postmarked no later than Feb. 7, 2003. Send completed applications to:
Mini-Grant Application Wisconsin School Music Association 4797 Hayes Road Madison, WI 53704 - Results will be announced in April, 2003.
- Approved projects must take place between June 15, 2003 and June 15, 2004.
- All Mini-Grant recipients must submit a final written report to WSMA 60 days after the completion of the Project, or not later than August 1, 2003. This report will be published in the Wisconsin School Musician magazine or Updater newsletter, and should include the following relevant information:
- Description of original project idea
- Implementation Procedure
- Evaluation Procedure (s)
- Conclusions based on the results of the Project.
- Project leaders are also welcome to submit photographs for possible printing in a WSMA publication.
