| State Festival Summer Music Clinic Scholarships Audition Components Written and Verbal Audition Questions At the 2002 State Music Festivals adjudicators will again be able to recommend exceptional solo performers for Wisconsin summer music clinic scholarship auditions. Students in grades 7-12 are eligible. A limited number of $200.00 scholarships provided through the Wisconsin Foundation for School Music* will be awarded at each State Festival site. Students who have been selected for one of the 2002 WSMA State Honors groups and are also selected for a state festival scholarship, may use their scholarship for Honors Tuition. *Funding for the 2002 WSMA State Festival Summer Music Clinic Scholarships is made possible in part by a grant from the Wisconsin State Journal Youth Services, Inc. Winners will be notified as soon as possible following the State Festival. State Festival Sites: Scholarship recipients may use their award to attend any summer music clinic at or affiliated with one of the following sites: - UW-Eau Claire (Indianhead Arts & Education Center)

2001 Statistics: At the 2001 State Music Festivals, 210 soloists were recommended for an audition by adjudicators at the eight state festival sites. Of these, 177 completed the audition process and 20 scholarships were awarded - five to the WSMA State Honors Project and 15 to other summer clinics at state festival sites. Responses should be at least one paragraph, but no more than one page. Candidates are given 15 minutes to complete the written portion of the audition. Performance Component: In a separate room, candidates perform the following in front of the Scholarship Audition Team: Performance of Festival Solo - a piano is available for vocal accompaniments ONLY. Taped accompaniments are allowed for vocal solos ONLY. Aural Perception - candidate listens to a recorded pattern and plays/sings it back (ear training exercise). Verbal Response - respond verbally to one of the questions from the list below (candidate chooses the question).
