Vistar Datacom Expands Their Presence in the Oil and Gas Industry SpudIT.com Orders GlobalWave MT2000 Terminals for Use in Oil Rig Tracking

Herndon, VA and Houston TX April 8, 2002 Vistar Datacom, an NSI Global Company, .[TSE:NGL],  announced today that they have shipped 400 GlobalWave MT2000 satellite data  communication terminals to SpudIT.com of Houston, Texas.  This is the first shipment of MT2000 terminals to SpudIT against an order for 1,000 units that has just been executed.

SpudIT.com will be deploying the GlobalWave MT2000 terminals to various drilling rigs in Canada and drilling contractors in the USA.  Some of the terminals will be used for specialized oilfield asset tracking in the USA.

GlobalWave is an end-to-end two-way satellite data communications system that allows users to automatically track and monitor mobile or fixed assets through up-to-the-minute information exchanges via geostationary and GPS satellites.

We are seeing wide adoption of our GlobalWave technology in the North American oil and gas industry. said Zvi Huber, General Manager of Vistar Datacom and Vice President of NSI Global.  We are proud to have been selected by SpudIT for this market and appreciate the outstanding progress made so far by the company. Innovative companies such as SpudIT are deploying GlobalWave as an integral part of their technology solutions for this industry.  Through SpudIT we have secured a leading position in the drilling rigs market and we anticipate additional market segments  to be concurred by our partner.

Robert G. Bob Davis, President and CEO of SpudIT says SpudIT has now deployed over 1100 MT1000s and MT2000s in the field with another 900 to be deployed over the next few months.  With our expanded GIS integration, customers can gather and retrieve real-time remote asset data and view it immediately on detailed, high-definition maps.  Customers also have the option to integrate asset data seamlessly with their existing databases and software systems. The combination of GPS and GIS technology gives our customers extremely powerful tools for use in asset tracking, mapping and analysis that they can use to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and enhance services.

The GlobalWave system offers ubiquitous 7/24 satellite coverage over all of North America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.  The GlobalWave MT2000 terminals represent the smallest, most-powerful satellite communications product available, and are capable of performing a number of functions, including transmitting information on volume, temperature, pressure, and voltage, producing reports on location and speed, and triggering alarms when sensor thresholds are exceeded.  Because GlobalWave provides two-way communication capabilities, a query (poll) can be sent to the asset requesting its current status and an immediate response will be provided.  Hermetically sealed and fully tested to withstand shock, vibration, high-pressure wash, and other harsh environmental conditions, the MT2000 can operate for several years on batteries or use any source of power using its smart power management system.  Ideally suited for the rigors and remoteness associated with managing assets in the oil and gas industry, the MT2000 terminals are designed to support designed to support a full range of input/output devices including a wide variety of sensing and monitoring devices, in the harshest environments.
