WSMA Announces Campaign for Wisconsin Center for Music Education

Glasgow accommodationMADISON, WI (July 23, 2001)– The Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) and the Wisconsin Foundation for School Music (WFSM) announce their capital campaign, "Music Education: A Sound Investment," to raise funds to build the Wisconsin Center for Music Education. The Center will open in the Waunakee Arboretum Business Park in July 2002. It will be the first center dedicated to school music education in the United States.

The Wisconsin Center for Music Education will provide educational resources such as a distance-learning center, recording equipment, conference space for workshops, and a music library. The Center will benefit music educators, students of Wisconsin, and community members interested in music education resources.

Dick Wolf, a former University of Wisconsin-Extension faculty member, serves as the WFSM Campaign Cabinet Chair. Wolf commented on the resources that the Center will provide students and educators. "These services will directly benefit the students and teachers of Wisconsin and will keep music education on the 'front burner' in our Wisconsin schools," he said.
