 | The following guideline is a useful tool in determining the credibility of any alarm company and its products. Feel free to print this guideline for your own personal use.
Company Information | Is the company you are choosing a member in good standing of the local Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau? |  | Are customer referrals available? |  | Is the company a member in good standing of state and nationalalarm associations, such as the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) and similar state organizaions? |  | Does the company carry Error & Omissions Liability Insurance? |  | Do the alarm signals transmit to an Underwriters Laboratories (UL)approved and Factory Mutual (FM) certified Central Station? |  | Have you been invided to tour the Central Station receiving your alarm signals? |  | Have you checked with local law enforcement officials about the reliability of the company? |  | Will the company provide full service: Installation, Service, Monitoring, Maintenance, and Warranties? | Product Checklist | Do the components of the alarm system and its installation meet necessary local, state, and/or national codes? |  | Have you been provided with the manufacturer's ratings of thealarm control panel and its components? |  | Is all the equipment listed with Underwriters Laboratories? Ask for product literature. |  | Is the system's wiring listed with Underwriters Laboratories? |  | What are the expansion capabilities of the system you arepurchasing? Will it be able to conform to your future needs and at what additional expense to you? |  | Is a service contract and/or maintenance agreement available forparts and labor? What does it cover? | Service & Personnel | Is the company representative bonded by the alarm companyhe/she represents? | |
 | Has the representative fully explained all terms and equipmentto your complete understanding? Were the warranties and all service and maintenance agreements clearly outlined. |  | Upon review of your contract, is all equipment clearly itemized and all points of protection listed? |  | Have you been given a demonstration of the product(s) you areinterested in? You are a vital part of the alarm system function; be sure you are provided with adequate instructions fortesting and using your alarm system. |  | Have you been provided with an on-going maintenance agreement? |  | Have you checked any local ordinances and laws concerningalarm systems? There may be restrictions governing the types of alarms which may be installed, the length of time the alarmmay sound and in some cases, permits may need to be obtained.
