History of Animal World

Animal World began in 1971. It was located in the Lovelace Building. During the first nine years there were various owners.

John and Dorma Cordry purchased the store in 1980. They were so successful with it that in 1983 they asked their son, Mike, to come and work for them and help them with it. It was also apparent, at that time, having only 1600 sq. ft. on two levels was not enough, so they moved the shop to a larger location at 25th Street Shopping Center with 3,300 sq. ft of space and accessibility to our physically challenged customers.

When John and Dorma retired, Mike stayed on and managed the business for his parents. Then, in 1991, Mike and Pam bought the business from his parents. The business continued to grow and eventually outgrew it's physical space limitations, so in 1993 Mike and Pam moved it to it's present location with 3,000 sq. ft. of retail space, plus an additional 2,000 sq. ft of storage and back room workspace.

As we are entering the next century, Mike and Pam are continually working on expanding their product line and finding new ways to provide better service to their customers.
