"Proposed" American Legion Baseball HALL OF FAME ...
PROPOSED AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL HALL OF FAME
South Dakota American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame, Inc.

"In this city on July 17, 1925, by action of the South Dakota Department of The American Legion, the nationwide organization of Legion Junior Baseball was first proposed as a program of service to the youth of America". These words are inscribed on a granite monument located adjacent to Legion Field in the community of Milbank, South Dakota, as a reminder of the beginning of this fine Americanism program.
American Legion Baseballs years of existence can be best explained by a portion of this inscription: "A program of service to the youth of America." Since its beginning, over ten million young men have participated in American Legion Baseball.
The American Legion Code of Sportsmanship is recited by American Legion Baseball Players and Coaches. The Code states: hôtels Lugano"I will keep the rules, keep faith with my teammates, keep my temper, keep myself fit, keep a stout heart in defeat, keep my pride under in victory, and keep a sound soul, a clean mind, and a healthy body". This code in addition to the lessons learned by participating in American Legion Baseball has developed generations of leaders that have helped mold the United States of America.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of South Dakota American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame, Inc. is to establish and construct a Proposed American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame. This facility will recognize the players, coaches, and other individuals that have helped develop and promote this fine Americanism program.
Architectural plans have been developed for the proposed multi-million dollar facility to be located in Milbank, South Dakota, The Birthplace of American Legion Baseball. The current plan allocates space to each State to recognize individuals that have developed American Legion Baseball into one of Americas great youth programs.
ONGOING EFFORTS
Granada hotel roomsBirch-Miller Post # 9 of Milbank, South Dakota, has collected memorabilia related to American Legion Baseball. This memorabilia is stored and cataloged to be utilized once the Hall of Fame is constructed.
In 2004, through the generosity of the Leo P. Flynn Estate, the community of Milbank is constructing a facility that will showcase the history of Milbank, SD. This facility will contain an area designated as the Birthplace of American Legion Baseball Museum. Memorabilia collected by Birch-Miller Post # 9 will provide an ever-changing display dedicated to American Legion Baseball. Construction of this facility will be completed in June or July of 2005.
The Birthplace of American Legion Baseball Museum contained within the Tourist Center being constructed in 2004 is intended to supplement the future American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame. The future Proposed American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame would be constructed as a separate facility within Milbank, SD, The Birthplace of American Legion Baseball.
